ROBBIE “KONG” GREEN JOINS WINMAU

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, has announced a 3 year sponsorship agreement with Robbie Green, one of the sport’s biggest and most recognisable characters.
Green, known to darts fans the world over as “Kong”, will also work with Winmau to develop a new set of darts which he will use on the PDC circuit and will feature in the 2017 Winmau Collection.
The move to Winmau, where Green joins a stable of more than 40 professionals (including current BDO World Champions Scott Waites and Trina Gulliver MBE), comes off the back of a strong six months on the tour.
Wirral-based Green is quickly climbing the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit (currently placed 57th), and he is in a strong position to qualify for this year’s World Matchplay in Blackpool, the World Grand Prix in Dublin and the PDC World Championships.

“My form has been great over the last several months and I have placed consistently well in the Players Championship events,” says the 41 year-old Green. “Winmau’s support and the opportunity to work with their Technical Team will help me refine my darts and find the edge I need to keep moving up the rankings and secure my place in the majors.”
Not that Green is a stranger to top flight events having qualified for the BDO World Championships every year from 2010 – making the semi-finals in 2014 – until his move to the PDC in January 2015. He also made the finals of the 2009 Winmau World Masters and the last 16 of the 2015 Grand Slam of Darts.
“Robbie has the game to win a major title – no doubt about it,” says Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director. “His 128.82 three dart average in March 2010 is still one of the highest ever scored in competition. I’m sure that with his ability and passion for darts and our commitment to help players get the most from their game, the best is yet to come for Robbie. We’re delighted to welcome him to the Winmau Team.”
